artist statement

My mom always told me to lower my standards in reference to the relationships I have with people and she has taught me all of my life to avoid conflict and sadness by doing just that, then you will not get hurt blah blah blah. This is a depressing and annoying mantra for life. In this video I decided to ask some of my friends what they think people should lower their standards about and this is what they had to say. I'm glad they have some humor and hope and that none of it was about people really. I love and miss all of my friends and this project was almost like a nice excuse to hear their voices over and over even though we're all very far away from each other right now. As I've been getting older I've been unlearning the standards I had for people before. Higher standards for 2021!

Also I used stock images because I was late in turning in this final and made it all an hour before it was due but I think it turned out funny. I like it.
